Football

Not much happening around here but my nephew's football team is in his high school playoffs. I'm not a football fan but I'm proud of my nephew, he's the kicker for his team. So good luck Midgets in your games this week.

Computers!

More cat photos and more computer problems, Ken took his in to the Geeks finally to have them fix it, brought it home today he still couldn't go online so called the Geeks they helped him fix the problem over the phone. My laptop still can't get online so it will go to the Geeks tomorrow.
The photo of Tigger was right in my photos, have no idea why it posted this way.
While we were waiting for Ken's computer to be finished we went to the movies and saw Dan in Real Life, it was cute and enjoyable.
Here are a couple of fun sites to visit: artsyvisions.blogspots and art-e-cats.typepad.com also google Hallmarks of Felinity if you like cats

Dreary Day

Well the Focus has been cleaned up and not from the little rain we had, the Ford service department cleaned up their mess, I guess, didn't look.

The new laptop didn't have the backup disk so back it went today. Ken is now trying to install wireless internet on it.

We took a couple to dinner tonight, they full time in their RV . Noel is coming out tomorrow to go through a few things with Ken and myself. Ken always has lots of questions for him and she has lots of hints for this and that for me too.

Movie

Ken won honorable mention with his photo, so I guess we won movie tickets. They had one big prize winner and two or three honorable mentions.
We went to see the movie The Assassination of Jessie James, it was very good. I have been to his home in Kearney and St. Joseph although it's been years ago. I don't believe Kearney was mentioned in the movie, but still it was done very well.

What Else!

Well we have our motorhome back in the driveway. We waited for a call this morning but got none so we called them. It was done, probably Fri. but the manager failed to call. The service department is not open on Sat. so he was not there, but they do keep one service man there. When we pulled the Focus around to hook it up to the motorhome we see oil all over the bumper and hood. Open the hood the service people at the Ford dealership didn't put the oil cap on after changing the oil Friday. Trent the service man also noticed that the hitch on the motorhome was not level with the car. So the tow place didn't do that right either! Ken had asked them when we picked up the car if it was to be lower to be level, NO it was just fine. So nice Trent cleaned off the oil and found the cap, checked the oil and told Ken where he could find an extender. Off Ken went, back within 15, less $150. Trent went tho the prossess of hooking us up, when he had people waiting for other things, he checked to see if all was right before we left. We made it back, Ken's first towing the car and we unhooked and made everything back into the driveway safely. Off to hit a few golf balls and relax, but Ken's back was still alittle tender so we just played 4 holes and visited with my old boss. Ken had given me the instructions on the brake
thingy and I had forgot what I did with it during all this, but with a little back tracking I remembered and he remembered how to hook it up without them anyway. Well, I do hope things will start going a little better now. At least the car wasn't hurt, Ken said they may have also put in too much oil as the dip stick still measured over the line, which I guess is not good either. So Monday the Focus goes back to the dealer for them to clean up!
The blog service won't let me add a picture tonight. So what else is new! I thought I changed my name.

My Discovery

I was reading Cheryl's blog tonight and she had a photo of her get together with her high school friends and I wanted to get a better look at them and I just left clicked on the photo and it came up full size on the screen. Wow I learned something new! You can do it to my journal pages too and read what I've written, not that there's anything interesting to read.

Ken's back is fine, it just hurt after he mowed. His laptop computer is hurting tho, it caught virus or a worm, good thing we have all these computers. I have one, he has a newer one and the laptop so he was able to look up some help to fix the laptop. It still isn't working properly tho, he's not using it anyway. He wants to having it working before we leave tho, it's our communication and banking system. He thought I should have a laptop of my own for my blog etc, so today we bought one, but he should use it if the security of his questionable. I didn't think I needed one, I just need an hour to read my mail and do my blog. It's just one more thing I have to learn to use, guess I'd have to learn to use his laptop anyway.

Let's hope we get to pick up the motorhome tomorrow, we didn't hear anything from them today.

Just a Day

The sun is shining but it's cool and windy. We haven't done much today just the general chores, laundary, oil change and mow the yard. Ken did hurt his back mowing, I hope not for long, we are to pick up the motorhome Sat.
I decided to try photographing my journal pages again and then photoshopping them alittle. You still can't read much but you get the idea of what I'm doing. I collect whatever I've found that may pertain to what's happening for that day, or whatever I find interesting and want to keep such as book titles, good wine labels etc. Hopefully later I will be able to scan the travel posts.

Back Home

I made it back home today, there was light rain on and off (mostly off) on the drive back. I went alone, Ken decided to stay home. He was going to try and sell the Bronco over the weekend but decided it was easier to donate it to a local charity auction. It seems the only time I see my cousins is at a funeral and then there is very little time to visit. (There are 5 cousins missing in this photo.) I did visit my aunts while there, it is always fun to listen to their stories. While visiting them they received a call from another cousin, Rosie, whom I haven't talked to in 10 years and I got to say hello.
When I got home I find out the motorhome has not been started on at all, Ken was on the phone with them when I walked in the door. I am ready to give up, I would not recomment these people to anyone. All promises and no work. I guess I will have time to catch up on my family albums, I haven't worked on them in a long time.

Here it is

Here is Ken's photograph that has been choosen as a finalist in the Star Photo Contest. It will be in the paper Oct. 21 in the GO section. It was taken at the Saguara National Park in Tucson, AZ.
I have a correction to make in the last blog, it is a cousin that has cancer and I hope he is doing OK, I haven't heard from him in the last couple of weeks.
Today we got the call that my Uncle past away yesterday, he was 84 I believe and suffered from emphysema the last few years. So we will be going up north to MN to his funeral Sat. It has been years since I've seen some of my cousins. We will be staying with my brother Dennis and his wife, Beth.
They are still working on the motorhome, so maybe Monday we can go get it.
Last night I went browsing thru blogs and found a couple of interesting ones for those who are interested in art, they are kerriposson-artist.blogspot and rosylittlethings.typepad.com and a cool travel log at espressovan.blogspot.

No more keys

Well, today was my last day of work, to bad it had to be a rainy day. I didn't see any of the regular golfers, Oh Well. I spent my last day defrosting the freezer and cleaning up the kitchen. I handed in my keys, and hugged the boss goodbye, and promised we'd visit them in AZ this winter.
Yesterday was a good day to see a movie and we saw a very good one Into the Wild. It's about a young man trekking across America and up to the wilds of Alaska. I'd recommend it to everyone, there is nudity though.
Well, time to wait again til we hear that they have the motorhome is fixed up. Ken fixed a pot of chili, I haven't done much cooking, breakfast once and a while. We don't have much in the frig or the cupboards, just a few basics. You know a glass of wine would be nice tonight for some odd reason, but don't have any on hand.

Nothing Much

Nothing much of a day today. It was my first Sat. where I didn't have to get up early and go to work, I didn't miss that. I did walk up to the convenience store for a cup of coffee, I am out of coffee here.
We then did a little banking business, deposited my last check. We did have a surprise in the mail tho, we got our passports. It took less then 4 weeks. I was thinking it would take a couple of months. Now we can go to Alaska!!! Well, sometime in the future we would like to go to Alaska.
I called Mom, she's doing well, although she is worried about us. I told her I'd call when we were ready to leave, she'll get tired of us before the winter is over anyway.
I feel rather lost, maybe it's just the wait to get started. Still have a few things to get and do, lots of last minute stuff that's in the waiting. I can't seem to concentrate enough to start a book to pass the time with, I pick one up read alittle get bored and put it back on the shelf. I did do a journel page today about my last paycheck. Also visited the Blog of Note the Sixtyminuteartist, it is very interesting .

Got the Hitch

I finally took a photo of our black cats, black cats are hard to get good photos of. Squeekie is looking a little Halloweenie with the orange couch as background and Boo looks as if he's had a hard day fast asleep on the floor.

I tried to get a quick photo of the tow attachment put on my Focus, you can almost see the silver bars sticking out of my plastic grill. It was a job to get it done, they had to take off the bumper etc to put it on. The bars do come off so I don't have to drive around with silver bars sticking out. The service people then showed us how to attach the bar to the motorhome and attach the car to that. We also bought a brakebuddy that goes on the floor of the drivers side of the Focus for towing safety. While checking if the lights worked, they didn't, the running lights on the motorhome didn't work. So that was added to our fix list and the motorhome was left at the dealers to have all the items on our list taken care of, we hope. So maybe, Tues I will have photos of Ken towing the Focus home.

Again we stopped at the Genealogy Library, Ken is hooked on this. It is very addicting, I seemed to have hit the block wall on all my family lines.
It is still very warm here, 85 today and tomorrow 87 doesn't seem like fall at all.

A Morphongenic Day

Sorry for the bad photos but I am still learning to take closeups with this camera and I have a hard time getting it to focus. Wish they made tiny digital camera with the features of the manual focus and interchanagable lens.
Our monarch chrysalis looked transparent this morning and we knew today would be the day of change, but not when. Then around 11 am our butterfly popped out and within 15 mins it was a beautiful monarch. It doesn't fly for about two hours, so around 2:30 it was restless and we released it. Ken got a couple of photos before it flew off. Hope it makes it to Mexico, it had a good day for flight south.
Yesterday we took the Focus to be fitted with the tow equipment, we were hoping it would be finished this morning but no not till 2 pm. So we will take the motorhome down tomorrow and have the job finished and a few things fixed on the motorhome. We may be getting close to a first trip, I don't know.
Yesterday, on our way back I suggested we stop at the genealogy library and Ken really enjoyed himself. He could get on Ancestary.com and print out the census, etc. We were there for 4 hours. I went thought some books from Plymouth Co Ia, found just a tid bit of new information. I think the infor on my GG Uncle being in the Civil Was was wrong I think it was another Prust from ST. Louis, because he was said to have died of his disase he contracted during the war in 1863 and my GG Uncle lived to be 80 so can't be the same person.
We golfed 9 holes late this afternoon and I see someone is going to work the next couple of Sat. so I have just one day left. Wow!!! I am retired! I will miss everyone, they were all really nice people, but I'll see them when we go out to play golf every once in awhile.

Out Chasing Butterflies

This afternoon we went out to the golf course to get rid of some yard waste and we took our cameras as it was a perfect day to chase butterflies. Fall seems to be the time to find the Mourning Cloaks and we found several this afternoon, now remember these are taken with my little camera so they will not be very good. The dark butterfly is the Mourning Cloak and the brown is a Question Mark . There were lots of Admirals and Monarchs too. They all like the sap of the willow trees.
We are still waiting to hear about the parts for the tow bar, we are hoping to get that done this week.
We are starting to go though the clothes closets, Ken is cleaning his out. We took 2 boxes to the Good Samarations this morning, he had lots of pants that were a little too tight.
We cleaned up the yard and some of the flower pots and cleaned up the bird feeders too, so those chores are done.
Ken has gotten back into genealogy so he spends the evenings searching the internet for relatives. I did alittle Sunday, found acouple of tidbits is all, we need to subscribe to Ancestry.com to get the full view of the documents. Last year I did their trial 14 day and found alot of info, but in the end just hit dead ends.
