Antiques, Art and Balloons

We took a spur of the moment trip to IA, we left Thurs. morning and got home Sat. evening.
We learned of the Antique Airplane fly-in from a friend who was going, so Ken thought it would be a good opportunity to get some photos.
It was a beautiful 3 days to watch the old planes fly and walk around among them. When we were trying to find a room in Ottumwa, we learned about the Old Threshers Reunion just down the road 50 miles.
So we took that in on Friday afternoon, which wasn't enough time to take it all in.
Who would you think was performing that night, Heidi Newfield who we watched rehearse
in St. Joe a couple of weeks ago. So we got to watch her rehearse again.
Sat. Ottumwa was having their Art in the Street so we took that in too.
There were about 50 artists so that didn't take very long.

On our way home Sat. we stopped at one of the Amish country stores and
bought 6 ears of sweet corn. Ken loves IA sweet corn.
We knew that Brookfield, Mo was hosting the Pershing Balloon Derby
this weekend so we stopped to watch the evening
launch, which was iffy since the breezes were a bit strong but they died down enough
for them to take off. There are about 50 balloons
flying in the Derby this weekend.

We had a good time, busy trying to get it all in in a couple of days.
Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!
Be like a duck calm on the surface, but
paddling like the dickens underneath.
